The current Rensselaer Athletic Association (RAA) is composed of a small group of parent volunteers interested in the welfare of our Jr-Sr High School student-athletes. Besides scholarships, each year RAA is responsible for many extracurricular events that include the sponsoring of a homecoming football game and the running of the Rensselaer Annual Tip-Off Tournament. At the end of each school year, RAA puts on an excellent banquet for the athletes at no cost to the student athletes. Certificates, letters, and awards are distributed at the banquet. In addition, two graduating senior student athletes are awarded $1000 college scholarships. Last year, school spirit awards ($250 each) were also given out to 2 graduating Seniors. The RAA does not solicit donations or fundraise in any way. All proceeds are the result of the tireless dedication of volunteers working the concession stand or selling 50-50 tickets.
RAA is the driving force behind other projects that not only aid the students at the high school level, but the entire community as well. Just recently, the RAA donated funds to purchase and install new speakers in the main gym and also purchased the new pole banners that make our campus look great and at the same time instill Ram Pride!! The RAA is always looking for new members to help them in their efforts to make athletics a positive force in the lives of our youth. If you are interested, please call Bill Spath, Director of Athletics, at the Rensselaer Junior High School, 518-436-8561 ext 7001. Our youth would greatly appreciate your participation.
